EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art is committed to interdisciplinary educational programs that enrich the city of Peekskill, a multicultural community that has recreated itself as a major arts destination. The LEAP Program, an after-school partnership between the HVCCA and the Peekskill Public School System, is designed to introduce advanced 5th and 6th graders to international artsists and literature. The students participate in in-depth discussions, creative writing, and leadership techniques that prepare them to lead tours through the museum's exhibitions. The HVCCA welcomes groups of all ages for its guided tours. Group tours can be suited to focus on specific galleries, artists, permanent installations, or special exhibitions. The HVCCA has a number of Series Events as part of their educational program. HVCCA's Artist in Residence program offers studio space, living quarters and a stipend for extended periods of concentrated on-site studio work and community discourse. The HVCCA also offers a number of educational opportunities for adults, such as lectures, video screening, panel discussions and special events related to the exhibition program. HVCCA education programs are supported in part by: |
